SALEM, Ore.  – NCU and Bethesda University moved their schedule game to Salem on Monday and the team from Southern California came away with the victory, defeating the Beacons 1-0 at the Capital FC Training Complex.

The Flames collected the only goal of the game in the 23rd minute. NCU keeper Christopher Kirby made a brilliant diving save on a shot by Eduardo Stadtlander, but the ricochet bounced to Betheda teammate Costa Santana who fired home the winning strike.

Kirby was busy for most of the afternoon, finishing with six saves as the Flames out-shot NCU 16-8 including a 7-3 margin in shots-on-goal. Victor Irechukwu led the Beacons with two shot attempts.

The Beacons (0-2) will play one more non-conference game on Sunday, September 10 in Newberg where they will take on George Fox University at 3:00 pm.
