Bearcats Ease Past WPC, 2-0
PORTLAND, Ore. - Two second half goals were enough for Willamette University to ease past Warner Pacific College, 2-0, in a non-conference matchup tonight at Damazo Field.
Opportunities at goal were few and far between for both teams, particularly in the first half which stayed scoreless. The Knights had their best chance of the night in the 23rd minute, but
Staci Tatum's 12 yard strike went just wide of the post.
The Bearcats found a little more success in the second period and took two chances well. The first was a goal from Lacey Jones, who had a tidy finish after a well placed cross from Karmen Chavez-Sam. Then in the 80th minute, a deflected pass found the feet Alli Young, who laced a shot from 15 yards that went just under the crossbar.
Willamette held a slight advantage in shots (11-8), but had seven corner kicks compared to 0 for WPC.
