PORTLAND, Ore. – Annouscka Kordom scored her first-ever collegiate hat trick, finding the back of the net three times en route to leading the Corban University women's soccer team to a 4-1 road triumph at Lewis & Clark College on Thursday evening. For the Warriors, it marked the team's second-straight road win.
"It was good to get a result against a team that was well-organized," said Corban head coach Likius Hafeni. "Sheyenne made some good saves and kept us in the game in the first half. It was also good to see Annouscka scoring her first hat trick, and it was good to get our second road win of the year!"
Kordom put the Warriors in front in the eighth minute of play when she beat the keeper off an assist from Julia Kashubin. Not long after, the Warriors made it 2-0 when Kordom headed the ball into the back of the net off a corner-kick from Emma Kosmala.
Lewis & Clark pulled one back before the end of the first half, keeping the match tight headed into the second stanza.
Kordom picked up right where she left off, however, as in the 54th minute of play, she one-timed a volley into the bottom corner of the goal off a well-placed cross from Marissa Telarroja, putting the Navy and Gold up 3-1.
Just four minutes later, Kosmala made a long run down the right side, and after using a good piece of skill to get past a pair of Pioneer defenders, Kosmala fired a shot past the goalkeeper, making it a three-goal lead for the Warriors.
From that point on, Corban closed out the contest with good team defense and solid goalkeeping from Sheyenne Brusven. Brusven finished the night with five saves en route to earning her second win of the 2017 campaign.
Corban (2-2) is scheduled to return to the pitch on Saturday in Spokane as the Warriors will take on the Whitworth University Pirates. Kickoff is slated for 12 p.m.
