KIRKLAND, Wash. – Central Washington scored two second half goals to come from behind to defeat Northwest University, 2-1, in a non-conference game this afternoon on the NU Athletic Field. The game, originally scheduled to be played in Ellensburg, was moved to Kirkland due to the poor air quality on the east side of the Cascades due to forest fires.

Northwest U controlled a good part of the first half and took a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute when Nadine Huff took Madison Morrow’s pass from the right side and scored 15 yards out in the center. The Eagles defense would hold CWU scoreless the remainder of the half with NU's Kat Sanchez making two saves.

The second half would belong to the Wildcats with a pressing offense that outshot NU 14-6. Lexsi Manning would tie the game at 59:38 as she would head in Emily Russell’s cross from 16 yards out. Whitney Lowe would then get the game winner for CWU in the 85th minute as she would take teammate Jordan Engman’s header and finish from 9 yards out center of the goal.

Northwest U drops to 3-3 for the preseason with Kat Sanchez taking the loss in goal, making 6 saves for the Eagles. Nadine Huff led the team with 2 shots, one on goal for the score.

Emily Holt earned the win in goal for Central Washington (1-2) after opening season losses to UC San Diego and Cal State San Bernadino. Holt made 6 saves for the Wildcats. Whitney Lowe, Emily Seelbach, and Lexsi Manning all had four shots for CWU.

Next up: Northwest U opens Cascade Conference play hosting Northwest Christian on Friday, Sept. 15.
