Eagles Jump Start 2018 Indoor Season
SEATTLE, Wash. – Two Northwest University Eagles got the 2018 indoor track & field season off to a great start with outstanding performances in Saturday's the University of Washington Indoor Preview Meet in the Dempsey Indoor Facility.
Sarah Estabrook established the top NAIA "A" qualifying time in the women's 3000m run with a 7th place finish in her heat and an adjusted time of 10:27.57 competing against NCAA Division I, II, and III entrants
"We had a great day at the Dempsey Indoor," said NU head coach, Mark Mandi. "Sarah Estabrook ran what is the NAIA national leading time in the women's 3k and an automatic qualifying mark. She executed her race plan as well as you could have hoped for in her first race of the season."
TJ Randle won his heat in the men's 400m dash with an adjusted time of 51.65, just 1.65 seconds off the NAIA "B" qualifying time in the first indoor meet of the year. He also finished 6th in his heat for the men's 600m coming in with a time of 1:33.39.
Coach Mandi continued, "TJ kicked off his senior track campaign just like he left it last year: winning his race. In his 400m heat, he came off the first turn in the lead and never let up. He looked great. He ran the 600m about 45min later for experience and training."
