LA GRANDE, Ore. – Director of athletics Anji Weissenfluh announced the hiring of Erin Dickhausen as the interim head softball coach for the 2018 season on Tuesday afternoon.

“I am excited to announce that Erin Dickhausen will be filling the role as our interim softball coach for the 2018 season,” said Weissenfluh. “She brings with her invaluable head coaching experience with an emphasis on the things we focus on within our department - commitment to academic success, community service, and athletic excellence.  We are lucky to find an experienced head coach on such short notice.  Erin will be arriving in La Grande this week and will assume all head coaching responsibilities immediately.”

Dickhausen joins EOU after spending the past six seasons as the head softball coach at Presentation College, a NAIA program in Aberdeen, South Dakota. With the Saints, Dickhausen led the team to its most wins in program history in 2016 with 24. She won 102 games at the helm of the Presentation program, coaching a number of all-conference athletes, conference scholar-athletes and NAIA scholar-athletes.

“I am very excited and honored to be the interim head coach at Eastern Oregon University,” said Dickhausen. “I look forward to getting on campus and to start working with the team. I have heard so many good things about this team and this athletic department. I want to thank Anji Weissenfluh and EOU for this opportunity. Go Mountaineers!”

Before joining Presentation College, Dickhausen was a graduate assistant at St. Cloud State University. She spent time as a coach and decorated player at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minnesota, where she earned her degree from SMSU in Sports Management with a Coaching minor.

The Mountaineers begin the 2018 campaign on Feb. 15 against NCAA Division II opponent Northwest Nazarene in Nampa, Idaho. The Blue and Gold open Cascade Collegiate Conference action on March 2 at Oregon Tech in Klamath Falls, Oregon.
