No. 12 Yotes Pull Away to Defeat the Eagles 1/5/2018 11:28:52 PM KIRKLAND, Wash. - Leading by four at halftime, the College of Idaho outscored Northwest University 56-38 in the second half to post a 95-73 Cascade Collegiate Conference victory tonight in the NU Pavilion. The two teams would battle through a close first half seeing five ties and as many lead changes. Justice Martion would tie the game at 27-27, with 5:55 to go in the half, but the Yotes would go on to outscore NU 12-8 in the final minutes to take a 39-35 lead after Aziz Leeks’ lay-up with 34 seconds on the clock. The No. 12 ranked Yotes would slowly pull away in the second half aided by 61% shooting in the period. Leeks would hit a jumper with 17:25 on the clock to give C of I a 49-39 lead, a lead they would maintain for most of the second half. Tre Benton’s single free throw at the 12:37 mark would cut the Yotes’ lead to 53-48, and that would be the closest NU would come. With 2:04 left in the game, Gibson Berryhill would give the Yotes their largest lead at 22 points, 88-66, as C of I would go on to post the victory, their 11th of the season. Northwest U (8-9, 2-5 CCC) was led by Justice Martion's game high 25 points hitting 12 of 18 shots. Tre Benton score 15 points for the Eagles who shot 51% for the game, but managed just 22% from beyond the 3-point line. Roosevelt Adams led the College of Idaho (11-5, 5-1 CCC) with 24 points on 8 of 11 shooting. Keun Palu-Thompson scored 21 points and Talon Pinckney scored 17 for the Yotes who shot 51% for the game, including 52% from the 3-point line (14-27).
