Eastern Oregon Top Pick to Rule Women's Basketball
LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon University women’s basketball program has earned the top spot in the 2018-19 Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) preseason coaches’ poll.
The defending regular season and tournament champions received seven first place votes and a total of 113 points. EOU finished last year 31-3 overall, and a perfect 20-0 in conference play.
Southern Oregon University received three first place votes and was picked in second-place in the poll with 111 points. and three first-place nods. The Raiders finished 28-5 overall and 17-3 in conference.
Oregon Tech is picked third with 88 points followed by Northwest Christian University (80) and Corban University (71) rounding out the top five. The Beacons of NCU received the final first place vote.
Northwest University (61) was voted sixth with The College of Idaho (60) seventh and The Evergreen State College (49) eighth. The final three spots are Warner Pacific University (43), Multnomah University (19), and Walla Walla University (17).
Eastern Oregon, Southern Oregon and Northwest Christian all advanced to the NAIA women’s Basketball Championship final site in 2018.
The conference postseason tournament has a single-elimination format featuring the top eight finishers in the regular season standings. Conference play is scheduled to begin November 30.
