EOU Finishes Quinn Classic with 114-86 Win Over Deacons 10/13/2018 10:21:53 PM LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon men's basketball team finished off the Quinn Classic with a 114-86 win over New Hope Christian on Saturday night at Quinn Coliseum. The Mountaineers (2-0) offense has been firing on all cylinders to start the season, averaging 119.5 points per game in their two Quinn Classic appearances. New Hope Christian (0-2) got out to an early lead, making their first two shots from behind the three-point line. However, after managing to go up 11-9, they would never lead again for the remainder of the game. Three different Mountaineer players eclipsed 20 points. Junior Joel Anderson scored a team-high in points with 22, his second-straight night leading the team. Sophomore Jordan May and junior Landon Jones each put up 20-point performances. Anderson also added 10 assists to his stat-line, his first double-double as a Mountaineer. The Mountaineers had a clear advantage over New Hope Christian on the glass, bringing in 45 rebounds, 12 more than New Hope's 33. Junior Tommy Miles-Williams led the Mountaineers with nine boards, trailed by sophomore Peter Hamilton with eight, and Jones with seven. EOU won the battle on the offensive glass 12-7. EOU scored 17 points, while New Hope only mustered up four. EOU played very efficiently in all aspects of the game. They shot 57.3 percent from the field, and 37.9 percent from behind the arc. They took care of the ball, only turning it over eight times in 40 minutes of action. The Deacons turned the ball over 14 times, and the Mountaineers turned those into 23 points. EOU will not play again until they open their Cascade Collegiate Conference schedule with Carroll College in Helena, Montana on October 22nd at 7:30 p.m. MT. On October 20th, the Mounties will have their annual alumni scrimmage at 7:30 p.m at Quinn Coliseum.
