Mounties Double Up Knights
PORTLAND, Ore. – Eastern Oregon knocked in three first half goals, then held off a second half surge from Warner Pacific to claim a 4-2 win in Portland.
Carlos Solorio, Abraham Garcia, and Oscar Munoz all scored inside of a 15-minute window in the first period to take control of the match. The Mountaineers outshot the host Knights 9-4 in the half.
After the break, WPU were the more dangerous team on the attack and generated eight corner kicks. The Knights finally broke through in the 68th minute with Omar Alcazar's 10 yard strike. EOU scored an insurance goal however, as Solorio converted a penalty kick with 17 minutes to play.
The Knights continued to press the issue, but could only muster a consolation goal in the 90th minute. Kyle Hood headed home the final corner kick to make the score 4-2.
