The following CCC student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period October 8-14.

 

 

Volleyball-Attacker

Warner Pacific’s Melisa Ljuca has been chosen as the Red Lion volleyball Attacker of the Week.

 

After earning Honorable Mention recognition in last week’s awards, Ljuca earns Attacker of the Week honors for her tremendous performances against some of the NAIA’s top opponents. The senior from Vancouver, Wash. tallied 49 kills over the Knights’ three-game road swing, averaging four kills per set through the weekend. Attacking at a .283 clip overall, Ljuca racked up 34 kills between the team’s two matches against No. 13-ranked Eastern Oregon and No. 16-ranked College of Idaho.

Volleyball-Defender

Kayla Olson of Northwest Christian has been named the Red Lion volleyball Defender of the Week.

 

Olson, a junior from Springfield, Ore., broke her career-high for digs on consecutive nights, needing only four sets to set a new personal-high of 26 against Evergreen. Olson faced 35 serves against Northwest without committing an error, while also adding four aces. The Beacon libero now ranks second in the CCC in digs, and third in the conference in service aces.

Volleyball-Setter

Jadyn Mullen of Corban has been named the Red Lion volleyball Setter of the Week.

 

Mullen, a rookie out of Puyallup, Wash., kept Corban’s offense flowing all weekend long in the Warriors’ two-setter system, totaling 45 assists in the squad’s two key victories over Evergreen and Northwest. A playmaker on the defensive end as well, Mullen recorded 16 digs in the weekend sweep.

Women’s Soccer-Defense

Eastern Oregon’s Chelsey Nicol has been chosen as the Red Lion women’s soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

 

Nicol, a senior defender out of Rio Rancho, N.M., was crucial for the (RV) Mountaineers in the squad’s weekend road sweep. The center back was integral in Eastern Oregon’s defense, as the Mountaineer back line held Multnomah and Warner Pacific to a combined five shots through the two games.

Women’s Soccer-Offense

Taylor Boyer of Eastern Oregon has been named the Red Lion women’s soccer Offensive Player of the Week.

 

The Mountaineers sweep women’s soccer Player of the Week honors, with Boyer earning the offensive nod following her impressive weekend for the Eastern Oregon attack. The senior midfielder netted a hat-trick, and added an assist, in the team’s victory over Multnomah, and tacked on another goal the following day against Warner Pacific. Boyer leads EOU in goals (11) and points (27), ranking third in the CCC in both categories.

Men’s Soccer-Offense

Evergreen’s Emilio Meraz-Rodriguez has been named the Red Lion men’s soccer Offensive Player of the Week.

 

Meraz-Rodriguez recorded his second hat trick in a three-game stretch during the Geoducks’ 4-0 road win over Oregon Tech. The senior midfielder from Pasco, Wash. also added an assist in the victory, expanding his conference lead in points and points per game.

Men’s Soccer-Defense

Corban’s Jordan Salim has been named the Red Lion men’s soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

 

Salim earns Defensive Player of the Week nod for the second time in 2018 after a tremendous weekend in goal for the No. 15-ranked Warriors. The junior from Sentul City, Indonesia made six key saves in Corban’s shutout on the road against No. 11-ranked Rocky Mountain, and added a crucial save in the squad’s 1-0 win over College of Idaho.

Women’s Cross Country

Northwest Christian’s Cass Brownell has been named the Red Lion women’s cross country Runner of the Week.

 

Brownell once again finds herself as the women’s cross country Runner of the Week, with the senior from La Grande, Ore. taking 4th overall in the 6K at the Lewis & Clark Invitational. Brownell was the top NAIA/CCC finisher at the event, helping lead NCU to a second-place finish as a team.

 

Honorable mention: Ariana Toland, SOU


 

Men’s Cross Country

 

Noah Oberriter of Southern Oregon has been named the Red Lion men’s cross country Runner of the Week.

 

Oberriter was the top collegiate finisher at the Lewis & Clark Invitational, completing the 8K with a time of 24:11. The senior from Truckee, Calif. led the no. 3-ranked Raiders to an impressive team victory at the meet.

 

Honorable mention: Thomas Morrell III, EOU


 

Men’s Golf

College of Idaho’s Chris Carew has been named the Red Lion men’s Golfer of the Week.

 

Carew, a senior out of Eagle, Idaho, set the College of Idaho single-season scoring record and tied the CCC all-time single-round scoring record with his 8-under-par 64, en route to earning first-place honors at the Oregon Tech Fall Invite.

Women’s Golf

Stephanie Koza of Oregon Tech has been named the Red Lion women’s Golfer of the Week.

 

Koza was outstanding for the Lady Owls at the Oregon Tech Fall Invite, leading the field after her 71-stroke performance in round one. The sophomore from Mililani, Hawaii would go on to win the tournament by a stroke, finishing with a two-day total of 149.
