Montana State Northern Picked to Win Wrestling Title

LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Montana State University-Northern men’s wrestling program edged out defending league co-champion Menlo College by one point in the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) wrestling coaches’ poll.
 
MSUN received four first place votes and a total of 63 points. The Lights are coming off of a 4th place finish at the 2018 NAIA National Championships and return five All-Americans including CCC wrestler of the year Matt Weber. Weber was also the national runner-up at 141 lbs.
 
Menlo received three first place votes and a total of 62 points to claim the second spot in the poll. The Oaks placed 10th at the 2018 NAIA National Championships.
 
 The University of Providence is picked third with 60 points followed by Southern Oregon University (52) in fourth, Embry- Riddle Aeronautic University (39) in fifth, Eastern Oregon University (33) in sixth, newcomer Life Pacific University (20) in seventh, Warner Pacific University (18) in eighth and Simpson University (13) in the final spot.
 
Providence (Great Falls, Mont.) will be the site of the CCC Men's Wrestling Championships February 15-16, 2019. The 6nd Annual NAIA National Championships will be held March 1-2 in De Moines, Iowa in 2019.
