Kirkland, Wash. – Northwest University (14-11, 10-6 CCC) beat the No. 16 College of Idaho (17-7, 12-4 CCC) on Saturday night in four sets. This win put the Eagles back into winning form after suffering two straight conference losses.
The Eagles won the first two sets (25-13, 26-24), lost the third (20-25), and then won the fourth set in a tightly-contested battle that forced the Eagles to score 31 points to win (31-29).
Keann White, Sarah Warner, and Hannah Lord led the Eagles on the attack, with 12, 11, and 10 kills, respectively. Courteney Carr added 40 assists for the team as well.
Despite the loss for the Yotes, MB Jackie van Vliet had a milestone game, going over the 1,000-kill mark for her career.
Northwest head coach Steve Bain commented, “The ?College of Idaho is a tradition rich program and a benchmark for excellence in the Cascade Conference. For this reason alone we knew it would take a great effort on our part to be competitive. From my perspective, I thought both teams played with great physical and emotional effort and points were hard to come by. I was especially pleased though with our mental approach coming off a tough loss last night and you have to credit our ladies for coming up with just enough plays when the match was on the line to earn the victory.”
