The following CCC student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period October 15-21.

Volleyball-Attacker

Northwest Christian’s Megan Van Marter has been chosen as the Red Lion volleyball Attacker of the Week.

It was an absolutely dominant week for the CCC’s leading hitter, as Van Marter attacked at a ridiculous .564 clip through the Beacons’ four games. The senior from Shelton, Wash. tallied 63 kills throughout Northwest Christian’s 3-1 week, finishing with just six errors. Of particular note, she tied NCU’s three-set match record with 18 kills against New Hope Christian, going on to break that record the following day with 21 kills against West Coast Baptist (Calif.). Van Marter currently leads the CCC in attack percentage, and ranks second in the NAIA in the category.

Honorable mentions: Taylor Ristvedt, SOU

Volleyball-Defender

Ashley Pagan of College of Idaho has been named the Red Lion volleyball Defender of the Week.

Pagan, a regular on the Player of the Week list, was an impact player on both sides of the ball for the No. 16-ranked Yotes throughout the week. The junior from Colorado Springs, Colo. led the Yotes in digs in both of the team’s games, tallying 43 in total. In addition, Pagan was a force offensively, adding 29 kills across the weekend split.

Volleyball-Setter

Kealia Rosa of Warner Pacific has been named the Red Lion volleyball Setter of the Week.

Rosa, a senior from Portland, Ore., directed the Knights’ attack over the weekend, registering an impressive 114 assists in the team’s two matches. A consistent presence all year for Warner Pacific, Rosa also added 17 digs on the defensive end and a pair of aces at the service line for the Knights.

Honorable mention: Courteney Carr, NU

Women’s Soccer-Defense

Eastern Oregon’s Josee Bassett has been chosen as the Red Lion women’s soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

Bassett played all 180 minutes as a center back during the (RV) Mountaineers’ weekend sweep, limiting opponents to 13 total shots (and just two shots on goal) in the team’s two shutouts. The junior from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho also assisted Eastern Oregon's first goal on Sunday against Northwest Christian, making a great pass over two defenders to set up Taylor Boyer's eventual game-winner. With the wins, the Mountaineers clinched at least a share of the 2018 regular-season CCC title.

Honorable mention: Devan Murfitt, CC

Women’s Soccer-Offense

Taylor Boyer of Eastern Oregon has been named the Red Lion women’s soccer Offensive Player of the Week.

For the second-consecutive week, Boyer has been named the women’s soccer Offensive Player of the Week, due in large part to the senior’s two game-winning goals during Eastern Oregon’s perfect weekend. Boyer has served as the catalyst for the Mountaineers’ offense throughout the season, ranking second in both points and goals in CCC contests this season.

Honorable mentions: Lauryn Gamache, RMC; Payton Netz, CC

Men’s Soccer-Offense

Carlos Solorio of Eastern Oregon has been named the Red Lion men’s soccer Offensive Player of the Week.

Solorio was key for Eastern Oregon in the Mountaineers’ two victories, scoring both of the team’s goals in its upset win over No. 10-ranked Corban. Not only did Solorio provide the game-winner in the final ten minutes of that game, but he also netted the game-winning goal of the Mountaineers’ 2-1 victory over Northwest Christian the next day. The junior from Los Angeles, Calif. now ranks second in the CCC in goals (11), and third in the conference in points (26).

Men’s Soccer-Defense

Eastern Oregon’s Jorge Chavez has been named the Red Lion men’s soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

Chavez, originally from Celaya, Mexico, helped the Mountaineers clinch the program’s first-ever CCC Tournament berth. Chavez was a significant contributor in Eastern Oregon’s thrilling win over No. 10-ranked Corban, as the Mountaineers held the Warriors to just one goal. In addition, the junior midfielder scored Eastern Oregon’s first goal of the team’s victory over Northwest Christian on the following day.
