VANCOUVER ISLAND, B.C. – NCU got their season underway on Friday night and collected their first win of the season, 87-80 over the University of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada.
Ernest Ugoagu led NCU with 25 points hitting a pair of three-pointers and adding six steals, coming just one shy of the single-game record, set by Keith Potter in 1983.
Reece Robinson added 19 points while Austin Tyner scored 13 and Davonte Cleveland added ten.
Head Coach Eddie Alexander said, "This was an excellent team win tonight. Ernest and Reece had a great all-around game, and the fourth quarter was dominated defensively by Davonte and Logan Davis."
The Beacons will play their second game of the two-game set at 12:00 pm on Saturday.
