Eagles Kick Off Season with Resounding Win

Salem, Ore. – Northwest University used an all-around scoring effort to overwhelm the Capilano University Blues in the Corban Classic Tournament on Friday evening. This was the Eagles’ first game of the season, winning 91-66.
The Eagles’ Josh Meyer and Hussayn Ford both had double-doubles in the game, with 10 rebounds apiece. Meyer provided a team-high 20 points, and Ford added 14. Nick Navarro and Jase Paulsen provided a scoring boost as well with 15 and 14 points, respectively, and a combined seven three-pointers.
Northwest had a clear advantage in 2
nd chance points. They scored 22 2
nd chance points in the game, and the Blues only scored three.
The Eagles built a solid lead early in the game and never looked back, at one point leading by 32 points late in the second half. They finished with a 25 point win, a good sign for future success this season.
Northwest head coach Jeff Drinkwine commented, “It was nice to play another opponent and see how our guys would react. It is always nice to get that 1st win on the road. I was very pleased with our guys tonight.”
