ANGWIN, Calif. - The Eastern Oregon men's basketball lost 84-78 to Pacific Union Sunday afternoon, ending their road trip in California.

The Mountaineers (2-4) have struggled on the road this year, losing all four of their contests away from Quinn Coliseum.

Pacific Union (1-1) notched their first win of the 2018-19 season, led by guard Albert Waters II who scored 21 points (6-10 FG) and played every minute of the game.

EOU has dropped three tight road contests by an aggregate total of 17 points, or an average of 5.667 per game. The Pioneers grabbed 12 offensive rebounds in the game, and converted them into 21 second chance points.

Eastern Oregon shot better than they have recently, making 52.9 percent of their shots, including 58.8 percent (10-18) from behind the arc. Senior Said Hersi was the top scorer on the Mounties, ending with an efficient 14 points, including three makes from 3-point range on four attempts.

Five different players accumulated double-digit points for the Blue and Gold, including Hersey (14), Brock Johnson (13), Peter Hamilton (12), Landon Jones (11), and Joel Anderson (10). The team wase locked in shooting the basketball, but Pacific Union was able to capitalize on EOU mistakes, scoring 27 points off of turnovers. 48 of the Pioneers' 84 points came off of second chance points and Mountaineer turnovers.

The Blue and Gold will not take the court again until Nov. 16 for a matchup with Benedictine Mesa down in Arizona. EOU will look for better results on the road, as they won't play in La Grande again until conference play opens Nov. 30 against Southern Oregon.
