EUGENE, Ore. – The NCU women’s basketball team lost to Montana State University Northern on Saturday evening, 69-55. The Beacons shot 33% in the game while allowing MSUN to hit on 54% of their attempts.
NCU trailed 38-20 at the end of the first half and made a small run in the third quarter to cut the deficit to seven points, only to see Montana-Northern pull away again late.
“It was a completely different game for us tonight that what we saw last night,” said Head Coach Chad Meadors. “It was a defensive battle and we didn’t do a great job defending in the first half. That is a tough team we faced. I challenged them to come out and play our game in the second half and found ourselves a little bit in the third quarter. There was never a moment when we didn’t play hard but we just didn’t knock down enough shots.
The Beacons (0-2) were led by junior transfer Shanay Dotson scoring 14 points with six assists and four steals. Kaylynn Bush and Conner Borigo each scored seven points with Bush registering a team-high five rebounds.
MSUN (3-0) was led by Allix Goldhahn’s 17 points while Sydney Hovde had a perfect 6-for-6 night, scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks.
NCU will return to action on Friday when they travel to face Bethesda University to open up play in the Bill Holtz Warrior Classic at William Jessup University.
