ANGWIN, Calif. – Under the guidance of first-year head coach Bill Pilgeram, the Corban University women's basketball team won its third-straight road contest to start the 2018-19 campaign, blowing past the Pacific Union College Pioneers on Tuesday night, 66-39.
Corban was on fire in the first two quarters, shooting 55.7% en route to jumping out to a 46-16 lead. The second half was straight forward from there, as the Warriors closed out the game and won by 27 points on the road.
On the night, Corban shot 41.2% from the floor and 28.6% from deep. In addition, the Warriors remained effective at the line with a 20-for-26 effort. Corban's defense also proved dominant, as while holding the Pioneers to just 39 points, the Warriors forced Pacific Union into 32 turnovers.
Offensively, everyone got in on the act and scored at least two points, with Jordan Woodvine leading the way with 13 points. Abby Forsyth tallied nine points and racked up six steals, while Jordan Rasberry recorded eight points to go with four boards. In addition, Kendra Murphy and Bri Turner chipped in eight points for the Warriors in the triumph.
Corban (3-0) returns to the hardwood on November 9 when it travels to Montana to take on the University of Montana Western. Tipoff in Dillon, Mont., is still TBD.
