Lions Miss Late Chances, Fall to Oregon Tech 2-1

PORTLAND – The Multnomah University men's soccer team had one of their toughest battles of the season on Saturday but were unable to finish late chances, falling to Oregon Tech 2-1 at the Eastside Timbers Soccer Complex.
THE BASICS:

GAME SUMMARY:
- The Owls would strike first, scoring on a penalty kick in the 20th minute as the ball was shot to the bottom left corner of the goal.
- It wouldn't take long for the Lions to answer as Victor Lujan took a pass from Jose De La Torre, finding the back of the net just two minutes later.
- Oregon Tech would score the final goal of the match in the 26th minute, controlling the ball in the middle of the box before punching it in.
- The Lions had a few chances to even the match in the second half but couldn't get the ball on frame. In the final 15 seconds of play, a failed clearance by OIT gave Matthew Dorn the chance at a header which ended up in the hands of OIT's keeper.
KEY PERFORMERS:
- Lujan finished with six shots for MU while Manuel Guillermo-Olivares collected six saves on the day.
- The Owls tallied three players with three or more shots as they finished the game with 18 total shots.

The Lions continue Cascade Conference play on at home next weekend as they face off against Eastern Oregon on Friday, Oct. 12.
