Defending Cascade Collegiate Conference women's soccer champion Eastern Oregon shut down Evergreen in taking a 3-0 win on a drizzly Sunday afternoon at Geoduck Pitch.

The Geoducks (2-9-0 overall, 1-5-0 CCC) put two of their six shots on target and had a late second half free kick by Delaney Rice crash off the crossbar, but for the eighth time this season they came away without a goal.

Evergreen had some good moments against the Mountaineers (9-1-2, 5-1-2), but a couple of lapses led to the visitors scoring a goal in the first period and getting two more in the second.

Taylor Boyer opened the scoring at 17:34, intercepting a pass in the Evergreen defensive end of the field and dribbling before slotting underneath hard-charging Geoducks goalkeeper Megan Breckenridge.

The Mountaineers made is 2-0 at 68:00 when Natalie Mitchell knocked home a rebound shot after Breckenridge saved an effort by MacKinley Gregus. The third goal came from Gregus at 76:25 when she beat two defenders and dribbled in on goal before finishing past Breckenridge.

The goals were the seventh of the season for both Boyer and Gregus, while Mitchell's tally was her third.

Breckenridge finished with four saves for Evergreen while Cyndi Cottrell had two in recording the shutout. The teams tied with two corner kicks apiece and Eastern ended the match with 18 total shots, seven of them on goal.

The Geoducks return to action at 2:30 p.m. Friday when they face the Oregon Tech Owls in Klamath Falls, Ore.
