SALEM, Ore. – Corban University Director of Athletics Twiggs Reed announced on Thursday morning that Keegan Davis has been named the head coach of the Warrior men's wrestling program. Davis becomes the program's first-ever head coach, with the Warriors set to begin competition for the first time during the 2019-20 campaign.

"Keegan Davis is not only an exceptional wrestling coach, but he is an outstanding leader of young people," said Reed. "The characteristic that stood out to me the most during the entire interview process with Coach Keegan was his desire to work with young men, helping them in becoming independent, productive adults ready to make a positive impact on the world in the name of Jesus Christ. I am grateful that we have such an outstanding leader as Coach Davis to start our inaugural wrestling program."

Davis comes to Corban following a decorated NCAA Division I wrestling career to go with his standout coaching resume. Hailing from Salem during his high school career, Davis captured a pair of state championships while competing for Sprague High School, leading him to wrestle at Oregon State University. While with the Beavers, he qualified for the NCAA National Tournament two times, placed in the top-5 at the PAC-10 Championships four times, and was a freestyle All-American.

Since his wrestling career finished on the mat, he has been an integral part of building Silverton High School's wrestling program into one of the elite programs in Oregon. While at Silverton as an assistant coach and teacher, he has helped guide the Foxes to see two individuals win State Championships and six finish as State Finalists. In addition, Silverton has seen the highest number of wrestling participants at the school now than in any of the last 15 years.

"I am very excited to be a part of Corban and to be able to build a brand new wrestling program on Corban's solid faith-based foundation," said Davis. "It has always been a goal of mine to be in a position to have a positive impact on as many people as possible, and I think Corban's new wrestling program is a great opportunity to accomplish this goal. I'm honored and excited to be selected as the head coach of the Warriors' first-ever wrestling team and look forward to adding wrestling to the rich history of Corban University."

Davis will begin the recruiting process immediately, as the Warriors will be fielding their first-ever collegiate wrestling program beginning in the 2019-2020 academic year. Davis will become full time at Corban on February 1 after he finishes the semester teaching at Silverton HS.
