Northwest University Women’s Basketball Win on the Road
OCEANSIDE, Calif. – Northwest University women’s basketball hit the road for the first time this year. The Eagles (1-2, overall) out played University of Saint Katherine (0-5, overall) in all aspects of the game winning 76-32.
The Eagles took advantage of St. Katherine’s turnovers and scored 22 points in the first quarter, 15 of which came off turnovers. Coach Crawford made sure the Eagles worked the ball down into the paint early in the game, with the Eagles scoring 38 points in the paint. 16 of those points in the paint came in the first quarter. The biggest stand out in the game was the support the Eagles had from their bench. The Eagles outscored St. Katherine 41-0 from the players that did not start. Miranda Langenhorst, a senior for the Eagles, led Northwest University with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Freshman, Sam Van Loo also had a great performance scoring 12 points and 6 rebounds. Northwest continues their stay in California one more night when they play Life Pacific College tomorrow at noon.
Northwest University women’s head coach Ken Crawford said, “It was a good win tonight for the lady Eagles. Many of our athletes received playing time and we were pleased with the improvement that we are making. We have a quick turn-around to play tomorrow at noon. I am excited about the possibilities.”
