McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Ryan Quigley led five players in double-figure scoring but Evergreen came up on the short end of a 105-75 non-conference men’s basketball decision to the host Linfield College Wildcats on Sunday afternoon at Ted Wilson Gymnasium.

The Wildcats (1-0) opened their season by shooting 51 percent overall and nearly 49 percent from three-point range in beating the Geoducks (0-2).

Quigley, a senior forward, scored 18 points by shooting 7-for-12 from the field and 4-for-4 from the free throw line. Adding 10 points apiece for Evergreen were Malik Redmond, Elijah Fuller, Brandon Kohler and Lukas Kelly. Jared Roffler tied for game-high rebounding honors with 11 and Dalton Groenewold added eight boards to pace the Geoducks to a 45-42 edge in that category.

After shooting 43 percent in the opening half to stay within nine points of Linfield at the half, the Geoducks made just 36 percent in the second period to finish at 39 percent for the game. Included in that was 6-for-21 shooting from three-point range.

Dempsey Roggenbuck, Riley Bruil and Will Burghardt all scored 16 points for the Wildcats, while Liam O’Reilly added 12 points and 11 rebounds.

The Geoducks open their home schedule at 7 p.m. Friday against Cal-Maritime. That game will be preceded by a neutral-site contest between Northwest University and Portland Bible College.
