Red Lion Players of the Week Announced

The following CCC student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period November 5-11.
 
 
Volleyball-Attacker

Southern Oregon’s Taylor Ristvedt has been chosen as the Red Lion volleyball Attacker of the Week.
 
Ristvedt, the CCC player of the Year, was at her best when her team needed her most during the conference tournament. The junior attacker notched 24 kills between the team’s victories over No. 22-ranked Corban and No. 12-ranked Eastern Oregon, tallying just five errors on the weekend. Delivering an impressive performance in the clutch, Ristvedt racked up seven kills in the clinching set of the CCC Championship contest.

Volleyball-Defender

Makayla Hoyt of Southern Oregon has been named the Red Lion volleyball Defender of the Week.
 
Hoyt was a dominant presence at the net for CCC Tournament-champion Southern Oregon, setting a new career-high in solo blocks with five (seven total blocks) against Corban in the conference semifinal match. The sophomore from Placerville, Calif. was in on four more in the team’s CCC Championship victory over Eastern Oregon, helping deliver the tournament title to the Raiders.

Volleyball-Setter

Hannah Bogatin of Southern Oregon has been named the Red Lion volleyball Setter of the Week.
 
The Raiders claim all three of this week’s volleyball Player of the Week awards, with Bogatin serving as the squad’s primary distributor en route to the CCC Tournament title. The junior from Corvallis, Ore. notched a match-high 31 assists in the championship match, helping Southern Oregon attack at a .225 clip against Eastern Oregon, the CCC’s top defensive team.

Men’s Wrestling

Montana State-Northern’s Isaac Bartel has been named the Red Lion men’s Wrestler of the Week.
 
Bartel earns Wrestler of the Week honors after an impressive showing at the Trapper Open. The sophomore from Mason City, Iowa went 3-0 at the tournament, winning his first match 23-1, his second match 15-0, and his third—against No. 8-ranked John Hensley—by a 16-5 major decision.

Women’s Soccer-Offensive

Northwest’s Katie Michkiosky has been named the Red Lion women’s soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
 
The CCC’s leading scorer during the regular season was at it again in the conference tournament, finding the back of the net against Southern Oregon in the conference quarterfinals, then delivering a goal and dishing out an assist in the team’s semifinal game against College of Idaho. The senior from Wenatchee, Wash. is now at 20 goals on the season, the highest total of anyone in the CCC in 15 years.

Women’s Soccer-Defensive

Kat Sanchez of Northwest has been chosen as the Red Lion women’s soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Sanchez made life easy for the Eagles on their path to a CCC Tournament crown, earning three-consecutive shutouts in the quarterfinal, semifinal, and championship contests. Totaling eight saves on the week, the junior from Arlington, Wash. turned in a trio of valiant performances when her squad needed her most.

Men’s Basketball

Multnomah’s Zach Richardson has been named the Red Lion men’s basketball Player of the Week.
 
Richardson has been a huge part of Multnomah’s historic start, scoring 25 points in the Lions’ win over New Hope Christian, then dropping 49 points in the team’s next game against Pacific. The freshman from Seattle, Wash. knocked down 13 threes in the latter contest, helping his squad set an NAIA record for three-pointers made in a game with 38. Multnomah moves to 5-0 on the season, the best start of any Lion team in school history.

Women’s Basketball

Aaliyah Anderson of Walla Walla has been named the Red Lion women’s basketball Player of the Week.
 
Anderson, a freshman out of Finley, Wash., had an impressive week for the Wolves. The rookie forward notched a pair of 20-point performances, scoring 24 points against San Diego Christian, and falling one rebound shy of a double-double (23 points, nine boards) against Salish Kootenai College. Anderson averaged 17.3 points and seven rebounds on the week for the Wolves.

Men’s Soccer-Offensive

Rocky Mountain’s Marco Kummerle has been named the Red Lion men’s soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Kummerle has been key to the Battlin’ Bears’ offensive scheme throughout the 2018 regular-season, and proved to be crucial in the team’s postseason run to a CCC tournament crown, as well. The junior from Pliezhausen, Germany was consistent in creating opportunities for the Rocky Mountain offense, and he provided the game-winner in the squad’s 1-0 victory over Eastern Oregon in the semifinals.

Men’s Soccer-Defensive

Kristofer Wennin of Rocky Mountain has been chosen as the Red Lion men’s soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Wennin, a senior out of Miami, Fla., was instrumental in the Battlin’ Bears trek to the CCC Tournament title. In the conference championship, Wennin came up clutch between the pipes for Rocky Mountain, leading his squad to a triumph in penalty kicks with his admirable performance in goal. The Battlin’ Bears’ veteran also produced a pair of clean sheets in the quarterfinal and semifinal matches leading up to the championship game.
