KLAMATH FALLS – The 25th-ranked Antelope Valley (Calif.) women's basketball team led No. 12 Southern Oregon for the final 35 minutes, and a 17-2 second-quarter run gave the Pioneers enough cushion to coast to a 98-83 victory Friday in the Lithia-Oregon Tech Classic at Danny Miles Court.

In a rematch of last season's NAIA Division II National Tournament first-round game, Samantha Earl helped the Pioneers (4-1 overall) get back at the Raiders (2-1) with 28 points. After scoring 20 in the last matchup, she went 11-of-14 from the field and 4-of-7 from 3-point range in leading the Pioneers' collective 50-percent shooting effort.

When they made their second-quarter move, Earl hit all seven of her attempts, including three 3-pointers. They led 50-32 by halftime.

SOU had won 17 consecutive non-conference regular season games.

Four Raiders scored in double figures: Ariel Augustine (15 points, 5 rebounds), Syd Fryer (12 points, 5 rebounds), Kenadee Honaker (12 points, 5 rebounds) and Dominique Harding (10 points, 5 rebounds). They were doomed by 33 turnovers, however, and shot 38 percent from the field.

Tylen Price added 16 points, seven rebounds and four assists and Alexia Budd had 14 points and seven boards for UAV, the defending Cal Pac Conference champion.

Sophia Altemus totaled nine points and four rebounds for the Raiders.

They'll be back in action at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Classic against Simpson (Calif.).
