Shooting Woes Doom Geoducks in Defeat

SALEM, Ore. – Shooting woes doomed Evergreen on Saturday as the Geoducks lost to the host Willamette Bearcats, 58-45, in a non-conference women's basketball games played inside Cone Fieldhouse.

The Geoducks (0-2) shot just 31 percent overall (16-for-52) and missed all 11 of their three-point attempts in the defeat.

Deidra Miller had a strong second half and finished the game with 13 points for Evergreen, which also got 11 points and seven rebounds off the bench from Imani Dunn.

The Geoducks got off to a slow start, making just two of their 15 field goal attempts in the first quarter, allowing the host Bearcats to build a 13-7 lead at the quarter break and a 28-15 advantage at the half.

Willamette didn't shoot much better than Evergreen, making just 34 percent  overall (21-for-62), but they knocked down eight three-pointers. The hosts also enjoyed a 46-36 advantage in rebounding and committed just 11 turnovers compared to 14 for the Geoducks.

Evergreen plays a home scrimmage against Whatcom on Tuesday afternoon before taking some time off for the Thanksgiving break.
