Mounties Complete Perfect Texas Trip with 57-55 Win 11/24/2018 6:52:27 PM DALLAS, Texas. – The No. 7 Eastern Oregon women’s basketball team went 3-0 on its Texas road trip, defeating Paul Quinn College for the second-straight game, 57-55 on Saturday afternoon. With the score tied 55-55 and 1:21 left to play, the Mountaineers (4-2) played great defense to hold the Tigers scoreless. EOU got just enough offensively with free throws by junior Julia Hanni and senior Khadija Neumeyer to secure the victory. Saturday’s game was close all afternoon, with EOU leading by three after the first quarter and just by one at halftime. The matchup featured seven lead changes and seven tied scores, with the largest lead just seven points by the Mountaineers. Neumeyer paced the team with 13 points and eight rebounds in 36 minutes played. Junior Whitney Meier also added 13 points while freshman Beverly Slater led the team with 10 rebounds. Eastern Oregon shot 38.5 percent for the game, but held the Tigers to a low 33.3 percent and 2-for-14 from behind the arc. Paul Quinn was also 7-for-16 from the free-throw line. The Mounties held a 51-35 advantage in rebounds. The win for EOU sets them up for the beginning of the Cascade Collegiate Conference season, as they host Southern Oregon on Friday and Oregon Tech on Saturday in Quinn Coliseum.
