Under Armour Team of the Week Announced
LA GRANDE, Ore. –The No. 22 ranked Southern Oregon University men’s basketball team has been named the “Under Armour Team of the Week” for November 19-25, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
SOU wrapped up their non-conference slate with two road victories over UC-Merced and Menlo College in California.
Down 54-45 with just over seven minutes left to the Bobcats of Merced, the Raiders ran off 14 unanswered points and hung on for the 68-81 win. Forward Jordan Hunt scored 13 of his game-high 15 after halftime and added seven boards and two blocks. Guard Tristen Holmes added 13-points and nine rebounds.
Against No. 21 Menlo, Hunt nailed a go-ahead three-point play with 3.6 seconds left on the clock for the 71-68 win. Freshman guard Teron Bradford scored a team-high 14 points, closing the first half with a buzzer-beating 3-pointer that gave the Raiders a 34-31 lead. Junior forward Tate Hoffman had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds and Jake Virga added eight points and five assists.
SOU (7-1, 0-0 CCC) will open up conference play on the road at Eastern Oregon and defending champion The College of Idaho on Nov. 30-Dec. 1.
