Orange Beach, Ala. – Northwest University (13-9-2) lost to Keiser University (19-2-2) in the quarterfinals of the NAIA National Women’s Soccer Tournament on Wednesday morning with a final score of 4-0.

The Eagles didn’t go down without a fight, shooting 11 times in the game. Seniors Bailey Travis, Whitney Weaver, Katie Michkiosky, and Tawnya Thomsen all had shot attempts in the game, forcing Keiser’s goalkeeper Nina Haeberlin into four saves in the game.

Despite shutting out their last five opponents, Northwest’s defense struggled against Keiser’s attack, which found the right recipe to put the ball in the back of the net. Emma Holmskov (2), Matilda Ovenberger, and Kyoka Koshijma were Keiser’s goal-scorers.

Disappointingly, this loss brings the Eagles’ season to a close. However, the season was by all measures a successful one, as the Northwest Women’s Soccer program proved that they belong in the national conversation, getting all the way to the Elite Eight.

Northwest head coach Bryan Chud summarized, “We knew we’re up against a good team today, and they capitalized on our mistakes and made us pay. All in all I could not be more proud of this group of players though. We have had a great season, and have shown that we are one of the best teams in the nation. The saddest thing is saying goodbye to the 9 seniors, but they have left an indelible mark on the NU Women’s Soccer program, and leave with their heads held high.”
