No. 4 College of Idaho breaks a Ten-Year Streak and Claims CCC Men’s Cross Country Title

ISSAQUAH, Wash. – No. 4 College of Idaho upsets No. 3 Southern Oregon’s hope of keeping the winning streak alive. Running on a wet course, College of Idaho had all the traction and won by 20 points at Lake Sammamish State Park.

The No. 4-ranked Yotes finished with five of the top ten runners, and eight of their ten runners placed in the top 25.

College of Idaho Yotes were led by Marcos Cervantes, claiming the individual title and crossing the finish line in 24:59.90. Cervantes was also voted the Cascade Collegiate Conference 2018 Male Runner of the Year.

It was an exciting finish to the race with the first four runners coming in with a spread of 3.5 seconds. College of Idaho took first, third, and fifth. Southern Oregon alternated by placing second and fourth. Noah Oberitter led Southern Oregon with a time of 25:01.00, but it was not enough to keep them in the race.

Austin Basterrechea, head coach for College of Idaho, was voted Cascade Collegiate Conference Coach of the Year.
