Eagles Win in Tussle with Wolfpack

Kirkland, Wash. – Northwest University (5-0) beat Thompson Rivers University (3-3) with a final score of 97-89. This was the Eagles’ home opener, and their fifth win of the season.
Both teams came out strong, and it was a close contest for most of the game. Ten minutes into the second half, a three-pointer from Ryan Ricks capped off a 10-0 run for the Eagles after being tied 61-61. This gave them the final separation from the Wolfpack that propelled them into victory.
Hussayn Ford, Josh Meyer, Ryan Ricks, and Nick Navarro were the Eagles’ main bucket-getters, with a combined 82 points between the four of them. Ford led the team with a 27-point, 7-rebound effort off the bench, shooting 80% from the field. As a team, the Eagles shot very well, shooting 56.7% from the field and 40.7% from long-range, scoring 97 points in the game.
Northwest head coach commented, “Our guys really stepped up tonight. They had a huge size advantage, and we overcame that with grit and determination. This was a huge test for us as we move forward.”
