Boyer and Bassett Selected as Players of the Year, Women’s Soccer All-Conference Teams Announced
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Among the 13 Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) women’s soccer programs, the best of the best from the conference were selected and honored on Tuesday evening for their exceptional performances in 2018.
Highlighting the All-Conference honorees were a trio of representatives from CCC regular-season co-champion Eastern Oregon, with Taylor Boyer earning Offensive Player of the Year plaudits, Josee Bassett receiving Defensive Player of the Year recognition, and Mackinley Gregus being named the CCC Newcomer of the Year.
Boyer made regular appearances on the CCC Players of the Week award list, finishing in the top-5 of the conference in points (31), points per game (1.94), goals (13), and goals per game (0.81). Boyer also led all CCC competitors with six game-winners, and tallied a team-high five assists for the Mountaineers. On the other side of the ball for Eastern Oregon was Josee Bassett, who led the team’s defense to a 0.72 goals-against-average, good for second among CCC squads. Boyer and Bassett’s teammate, Mackinley Gregus, receives Newcomer of the Year accolades after quickly establishing herself as one of the conference’s most dangerous weapons. Gregus finished with 10 goals and a pair of assists on the 2018 season.
Brandon Porter of Oregon Tech was named the CCC Coach of the Year after leading the Owls to a 11-4-2 (8-3-1 CCC) record and third-place finish in the conference regular-season standings.
