Kirkland, Wash. – Northwest University (8-4, 1-0 CCC) beat the Multnomah Lions (6-3, 0-1 CCC) in their conference opener with a final score of 89-64.

Hussayn Ford added another double-double to his season total, with 25 points and 14 rebounds. Ryan Ricks also had a great all-around game, with nine points, seven assists, and 15 rebounds. Nick Navarro, Josh Meyer, and Jaden Jenkins all had double-digit point totals to push the Eagles to victory.

The Lions shot themselves out of the game tonight, hucking up 47 three-pointers and only converting on nine of those attempts. To add, the Eagles had 56 points in the paint, to the Lions’ 22. A combination of poor shooting and aggressive Eagles’ defense also forced the Lions into a mere 25% field goal percentage in the game.

The Lions’ Justin Martin had 19 points to lead the team.

Northwest head coach Jeff Drinkwine commented, “We had a great defensive effort by our guards; we took three guys that average over 25 points a game and held them below their average. I was very impressed with our overall effort, we took a team that averages 112 points and held them to 64 points. Now we get to turnaround to do it again tomorrow!”
