Ballard's Season High Sends WP Past Loggers
PORTLAND, Ore. – Collin Malcolm posted his 3rd double-double of the season, and Jalen Ballard scored a season high 19 points to lead Warner Pacific past Puget Sound in non-conference action tonight in Portland.
Malcolm contributed 21 points and 10 rebounds to the winning effort, which moved WPU to 10-3 overall. The visiting Loggers dropped to 3-5.
The host Knights were clicking on offense in the first half, canning 22 of 36 shots for 61 percent. The efficient scoring allowed WPU to build a 51-36 lead at halftime.
UPS regrouped during the break and proceeded to open the second half on a 15-1 run, sparked by Cal Hansen's work inside the paint. The lead for the Loggers was short-lived, but the game was a battle the rest of the way. The Knights managed to move back in front thanks to Jalen Ballard, who rescued WP with 17 points in the second half.
Brandon Bell added 14 points and 8 rebounds for Warner Pacific.
Jimmy Wohrer led UPS with 18 points. Cal Hansen added 15 points and 8 rebounds.
