The following CCC student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period December 10-16.

Men’s Wrestling

Eastern Oregon’s Mhar Caballa has been named the Red Lion men’s Wrestler of the Week.

Caballa continued his dominance in duals this season, going 5-0 between Eastern Oregon’s face-off against Embry-Riddle and the team’s showing at the CCC/GPAC duals. Caballa, ranked No. 4 at 125 pounds, defeated a trio of top-20 ranked opponents, including No. 5 Jonas Gaytan of Midland, No. 12 Devin Phaly of Morningside (via a first round pin), and No. 18 Joshua Nira of Embry-Riddle. With Caballa leading the way, the Mountaineers claimed victories in a pair of duals, including a triumph over (RV) Concordia.

Honorable mention: Adrian Lyons-Lopez, UP

Men’s Basketball

Eastern Oregon’s Jordan May has been chosen as the Red Lion men’s basketball Player of the Week.

May had a career weekend with 74 points in two wins for the Mountaineers. He scored 33 in Eastern Oregon’s 84-75 victory over Northwest Christian, finishing with a career-high nine three-pointers made while playing all 40 minutes. The sophomore from Troutdale, Ore. was even better on the following day, dropping a career-high 41 points on 15-of-26 shooting from the floor. May was nigh-unstoppable during the week, adding 5.5 rebounds per game and going 14-for-25 from beyond the arc in the two victories.

Honorable mention: Austin Tyner, NCU

Women’s Basketball

Maren Herrud of Eastern Oregon has been selected as the Red Lion women’s basketball Player of the Week.

Herrud was a key contributor off the bench for the No. 14-ranked Mountaineers in the squad’s two-win week. Averaging 21 points in less than 40 minutes total, the senior from Pocatello, Idaho was incredibly efficient, shooting 66.7% from the field and going 8-for-9 from three between the two games. Herrud’s contributions helped lead Eastern Oregon to the squad’s 33rd & 34th straight CCC regular-season triumphs.

Honorable mention: Jordan Woodvine, CRB; Miranda Langenhorst, NU
