SALEM, Ore. – While racking up a season-high 98 points, the Corban University women's basketball team exploded past Linfield College in the last game for the Warriors before the Christmas break, 98-87. It was an all-around team effort, as every Corban player scored at least two points in the non-conference victory.

"It was great to see the ball go in the basket and the team to build some momentum going into the break," said Corban head coach Bill Pilgeram. "The atmosphere was fantastic, and I think our team really fed off of the energy and excitement of the elementary school kids!"

In front of more than 700 local elementary school students, the Warriors and Wildcats traded buckets back and forth in the first 10 minutes, but thanks to a couple of stops on the final few possessions of the first stanza, Corban held the 27-20 lead.

The Warriors did not stop there, scoring 28 more points in the second quarter, including a buzzer beater from Lindsay Asplund to put Corban up by 17 points at the break. In those first 20 minutes, the Navy and Gold shot 63.89% from the field overall.

In the third quarter, Heidi Mueller caught fire, nailing four long-range efforts to push Corban's advantage even further in front as the Warriors scored 33 in the stanza. Linfield did provide an offensive response in the fourth and final quarter, scoring 29 points, but the game was already well in hand for Corban at that point, as the Warriors held on for the 11-point victory.

"Treasure played a great game, leading the team at the point guard position," said Pilgeram. "Heidi is such a great shooter and can hit shots in bunches. It is fun to see her when she gets going and that opens everything else up inside. It was also really cool to see Jordan Rasberry get to play in front of her student-teaching class. They obviously love her and she is a wonderful role model!"

Jordan Woodvine led Corban in scoring with 23 points in just 24 minutes, shooting 9-for-12 from the floor to go along with seven boards and six assists. Treasure Farmer was also efficient, shooting 8-for-13 for 22 points while also hauling in six rebounds and dishing out six assists.

Additionally, Emily Yost finished with 13 points on a perfect 6-for-6 shooting mark, while Mueller totaled 12 points for the Warriors.

For Linfield (2-7) in the loss, Molly Danielson totaled 26 points, while Kory Oleson recorded 22 points for the Wildcats.

Overall, Corban shot 55.1% from the floor and 52.9% from downtown while also going a perfect 13-for-13 from the free-throw line.

Corban (7-6) returns to the hardwood on December 29 when it travels north for a game against Northwest University. Tipoff in Kirkland is slated for 5:30 p.m.
