Red Lion Players of the Week Announced

The following CCC student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period November 26-December 2.
Men’s Wrestling
Providence’s Shonn Roberts has been named the Red Lion men’s Wrestler of the Week.
Roberts, a junior out of Columbia Falls, Mont., helped bring the Argos within three points of upsetting the No. 4-ranked NCAA Division II McKendree Bearcats with his 6-2 decision over No. 4 Isaiah Kemper during the Battle of the Rockies duals. He also defeated No. 7-ranked David Salazar of Embry Riddle (Ariz.) to advance to the championship match in the 149-pound weight class at the Battle of the Rockies Open, finishing second overall.

Men’s Basketball
Eastern Oregon’s Jordan May has been chosen as the Red Lion men’s basketball Player of the Week.
May was outstanding for the Mountaineers in a pair of matchups against top-25 opponents. Averaging 26 points between the team’s two games, the sophomore guard dropped 34 (7-of-12 from beyond the arc) in Eastern Oregon’s upset win over No. 13-ranked Southern Oregon, while also racking up four steals. Competing against another of the NAIA’s top defenses, May added 18 points in a loss to No. 22-ranked Oregon Tech on Saturday.

Women’s Basketball
Sequoia Wheeler of Multnomah has been selected as the Red Lion women’s basketball Player of the Week.
Wheeler, originally from Lapwai, Idaho, has been an integral part of the Lions’ hot start to the 2018-19 season, the best start in program history. In Multnomah’s 2-0 week, the junior guard hit two game-winners, averaging 25 points between the two games. Wheeler sank 10 threes on the week, including a go-ahead three-pointer in the final seconds to deliver a Lion victory in the final seconds against Evergreen. Overall, Wheeler shot 49% percent from the field and 50% from downtown in the two victories.
