Two Scoops: Cone's Season High Sends WP Past Owls
PORTLAND, Ore. - Kendyl Cone scored a season best 16 points to spark Warner Pacific to a 62-58 win over Oregon Tech on Sunday in CCC action at C.C. Perry Gym.
The senior hit a key three pointer in the 4th quarter, giving the host Knights a 51-49 lead that would last the rest of the game. It was a welcome result for WPU after surrendering a 4th quarter advantage the previous night.
It was close contest from the outset, with the largest lead of eight points held by OIT in the first quarter. The visiting Owls were paced by Megan Morris who was able to penetrate into the heart of the WP defense for 16 points - mostly from close range.
The Knight defense tightened up in the 4th quarter, giving up just 11 points. Key baskets from Katelyn Rossback and Grace Prom allowed WP to score 19 in the period to salt away the win.
