Warrior Men’s Hoops Completes Season Sweep of New Hope in 94-49 Win

EUGENE, Ore. – While dominating in all facets of the game on Monday evening, the Corban University men's basketball team completed the season sweep of New Hope Christian College, downing the Deacons on the road, 94-49.

"Our guys played with great energy for 40 minutes and responded well from last week's tough loss," said Corban head coach Mitch Freeman. "We were able to get contributions from everyone, and we hope to continue to play as one on both sides of the ball! It is a tough stretch of games coming up this Thursday and Saturday!"

Corban was effective down low early and often, ultimately scoring 50 points in the paint against New Hope while holding the Deacons to just eight in the paint. Tightening up the defense as well, Corban forced New Hope into 12 turnovers, resulting in 23 points for the Navy and Gold. On top of the dominance inside, Corban made it rain from downtown, nailing 12 long-range efforts while shooting 48% from behind the arc.

As a team, Corban shot 60% overall and was led by AJ Hodges' 15 points on a 6-for-8 shooting mark. Beau Roggenbach continued his strong sophomore season with the Warriors, scoring 13 points while nabbing a team-best 12 boards. Joel Johnson proved to be his usual self, going 7-for-11 from the floor with 14 points and four boards, while Beau Tilleman and Dalton Patchen combined for 25 points between the two.

Corban (8-2) returns home to play in the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center on Thursday night when it hosts cross-town rival, Willamette University. Tipoff is slated for 8 p.m.
