Corban Soccer Announces Restructuring with Lewis as Head Women’s Coach & Kagey Head Men’s Coach
SALEM, Ore. – Corban University Director of Athletics Twiggs Reed announced on Friday afternoon that there would be some restructuring to the Corban University soccer programs. Aaron Lewis will remain as the Director of Soccer and oversee both programs and will now be the head women's soccer coach, while Tim Kagey has been elevated to become the head men's soccer coach.
Former Warrior women's soccer head coach Likius Hafeni will remain involved with Corban Soccer in a new role and new capacity.
"I would like to thank Coach Likius Hafeni for serving the past three years in the role of women's soccer head coach," said Reed. "Coach Likius' leadership in wanting to glorify Christ is reflected in his life and teams. I am grateful that Coach Likius will stay involved with Corban soccer, albeit in a different coaching capacity. Likius will now have more time to dedicate to his studies as he is finishing his master's degree in ministry here at Corban."
"I am excited that Coach Aaron Lewis will be moving to the women's team and taking on the role not only as the Director of Soccer, but also as the head women's soccer coach," Reed continued. "Coach Lewis is committed to seeing the women's soccer student-athletes grow in Christ, excel in the classroom, and to continue to develop their God-given ability on the field."
"Moreover, we will not be going backwards with the men's team," said Reed. "Promoting Corban alumnus coach Tim Kagey to the head coaching position will allow the men's team to continue in their winning ways, both on and off the field, and we are very excited about that."
Lewis, who has guided the Warrior men's soccer program to six-consecutive NAIA National Tournaments, will continue in his role as the Director at Soccer at Corban and will remain involved with the men's soccer team while taking on the new role as head women's soccer coach. During his time as the head men's soccer coach for the Warriors, he accumulated a 95-23-9 overall record, making him the winningest coach in program history.
"Partnering with the ladies players, to take this program to the next level, is something I am greatly looking forward to," said Coach Lewis. "On top of that, to also be able to support the men's program in their quest to get back to the national tournament is an opportunity that I am supremely thankful for."
Lewis is also the only head men's soccer coach in the west region to lead his program to the NAIA National Tournament in each of the last six years, building a tradition of excellence that is unmatched. In his first year at Corban in 2013, Lewis guided the Warriors' to the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) regular season and conference tournament championships en route to being named the CCC Coach of the Year. During his time with the Warriors men's soccer program, he led Corban to three CCC Tournament Championships and two CCC regular-season titles. Lewis also remains with the Portland Timbers U23s as the head coach, leading the squad for the third-straight summer at the highest level of semi-professional soccer.
"Tim is a bright soccer mind that has the right experience to take our men's team to new heights," said Coach Lewis. We are thrilled to have him take on this larger role with our group while continuing to mentor our young men."

Kagey, who has served as the Associate Head Coach during the 2018 campaign for the men's program, elevates into the head-coaching role with the Warriors. As a part of the coaching staff since 2016, Kagey has helped guide the Warriors to two NAIA Final Sites and two wins in the NAIA Opening Round, something the Warriors had never accomplished prior to him joining the staff.
"I am excited and thankful for this opportunity," said Kagey. "I am looking forward to getting started with this amazing group we already have here and continuing on with the momentum and tradition that the Warrior men's soccer program has."
Kagey also serves as an assistant coach on the Portland Timbers U23 team, helping guide the squad to the USL PDL Northwest Division Title and a playoff appearance in 2017. Prior to the last two years with the Portland Timbers U23s, Kagey was an assistant coach for the Vancouver Victory team that won their first-ever league championship in 2016. Moreover, Kagey is the head coach of three Capital Timbers FC teams, including the U18 Boys team that won the Oregon State Championship.
During his playing days, Kagey was a captain for three years with the Warriors, collecting NAIA All-America plaudits twice. He led Corban to a pair of tournament championships, one regular-season title, and three national tournament appearances.
