Mountaineers Begin Indoor Season Early at Jackson’s Open 12/8/2018 7:47:41 PM NAMPA, Idaho. – The Eastern Oregon men’s and women’s track and field teams got an early start to the 2018-19 indoor season, with a small group of athletes competing at the Jackson’s Open on Saturday. Senior Devin Lewis-Allen began his year with a second place finish in the men’s 400-meter dash. Lewis-Allen crossed the finish line in 50.11 seconds, only behind an unattached runner while defeating NCAA Division I and II athletes. His time was about half a second off his indoor personal best. Senior Cooper Shaw also placed sixth in the vent in 51.18 seconds. Sophomore Danielle Church had a strong showing in the women’s shot put, placing third out of 18 competitors. Church reached a distance of 11.63 meters for her best career mark, ranking No. 10 in EOU history. Senior Casci Carpenter took 17th with a top distance of 8.55 meters. Church also placed seventh in the weight throw, with a best throw of 12.69 meters. Senior Morgan Reddington took sixth place in the women’s 200 meter dash, crossing the finish line in 27.59 seconds. She also placed sixth in the long jump, reached a distance of 5.07 meters. In the men’s 60-meter dash, senior Branden Phanmaha qualified for finals and took eighth place. Phanmaha ran a time of 7.31 seconds in the prelims, followed by a nearly identical time of 7.32 in the finals. He also competed in the 200-meter dash, taking 11th out of 22 competitors with a time of 23.63 seconds. Senior Josh Wallin placed third in the men’s 800 meters, crossing the finish line in 2 minutes, 5.89 seconds. Junior Hunter Frazier took 12th in the men’s weight throw and 15th in the shot put. He finished with identical top marks of 11.11 meters in each event. The Mountaineers return to action after the New Year, competing at the Bronco Invite in Nampa Idaho on Jan. 12, 2019.
