No. 17 Mounties Rout Lewis & Clark 84-57 12/9/2018 5:53:48 PM LA GRANDE, Ore. – Twelve players scored points as the No. 17 Eastern Oregon women’s basketball team dominated Lewis and Clark College 84-57 on Sunday afternoon to complete the Coach Mike Memorial Tournament. The Mountaineers (7-2, 2-0 CCC) led from start to finish, led by a 43-22 advantage in second and third quarters. EOU spread the ball around well, paced by seven different players with at least six points. Junior Jane Nelson dropped 17 points, shooting 6-for-12 from the field in another strong offensive performance for the transfer. Senior Maren Herrud had 12 points while freshman Beverly Slater posted 11 points and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. Junior Emma Logan had a team-best six assists, along with seven points. Junior Whitney Meier was 3-for-5 from behind the arc, finishing with nine points and three assists. Senior Julia Hanni also added six points and six rebounds. Both teams were strong on the offensive glass, as the Pioneers finished with 18 offensive rebounds while EOU had 15. The Mounties won the battle in the paint, recording a 40-16 advantage over Lewis and Clark. The Blue and Gold shot 47.7 percent from the floor and 50 percent from behind the arc. The defense limited the Pioneers to a low 30.6 field goal percentage. After a 0-2 start to the season, EOU has run off seven-straight wins since Nov. 10. The Mountaineers are on the road next in CCC play, visiting Northwest Christian on Dec. 15 at 4 p.m., followed by Corban on Dec. 16.
