ASHLAND – When Southern Oregon needed a boost against Corban, sophomore posts Tate Hoffman and Jordan Hunt delivered in a 78-66 Cascade Conference victory Saturday at Mountain Avenue Gym.

Hoffman totaled 17 points, shot 5-of-7 from 3 and pulled in a career-high 16 rebounds. Hunt was quiet for most of the night, but when the Raiders trailed 62-61 with 4:32 left, his 3-pointer from the wing started a run of 15 unanswered points. Hunt was responsible for 11 of those – mixing in another 3, a floater and a three-point play inside – to finish with 15 points and seven boards.

The win made the Raiders 18-9 overall and 12-5 in the Cascade Conference, keeping them part of a pileup in the standings going into Sunday's 6 p.m. game against Northwest Christian. College of Idaho (17-1 CCC) clinched the outright regular-season title Saturday, but directly behind the Yotes are four five-loss teams: SOU, Eastern Oregon, Oregon Tech and Warner Pacific.

The Raiders were in jeopardy of letting another one get away early: They were down 27-14 midway through the first, but stayed in it largely due to Hoffman's four 3-pointers in the half and got within three points by the break.

Hoffman's five total triples matched a season-high for any Raider, and his rebound count was the highest for a Raider since Jan. 5, 2013. He was coming off Tuesday's 24-point, 10-rebound game at New Hope Christian; both were career-bests at the time.

Senior guard Ben DeSaulnier went 8-of-13 from the field and scored 13 of his 19 in the second half, where SOU shot 17-of-30 as a team to bring its cumulative clip up to 48 percent. Josh Washington made all three of his attempts off the bench to score seven.

The Raiders also committed just eight turnovers. They've gone 11-0 in conference play when totaling fewer than 15.

Joel Johnson's 19 points and 12 rebounds pace Corban (14-12, 8-10). He shot 9-of-12 and opened up the floor for the rest of the Warriors, but his downfall was at the free-throw line, where he missed all but one of his eight attempts.

The Warriors were kept to 13-of-34 shooting overall in the second half. They've lost 13 consecutive games in Ashland.
