PORTLAND, Ore. – Fausto Gomez, a senior defender for McMinnville High School in McMinnville, Ore., has become the second signee for the men's soccer program at Multnomah University for the upcoming 2018 fall season, as announced recently by new Lions' head coach Dalon Parker.

Gomez played for MHS for four years under head coach Jory Sean, starting and earning honorable mention All-State honors each of the last two seasons as one of the top talents in Yamhill County.  He was a key component of the Grizzlies' run to the 6A state finals during his junior year.  He has also been a two-year starter for his club team, Crossfire, under head coach Mike Lagaluchi, leading the team to wins in the Crossfire Challenge and the Mt. Hood Challenge.

"Multnomah was originally recommended to me by Coach Sean," said Gomez.  "I was invited out to an ID camp there, and after training a little with the team and seeing a tiny bit of the campus, I knew it was the right fit for me. The great part is that it matched me in a spiritual level as well, which always makes me happy to think about. I can't wait to compete and learn at Multnomah; I know the future is always bright and I expect nothing but great things."

Says Parker, "Fausto is a talented defender who will bring a tough, hard-working mindset that will challenge his teammates to be better players.  He will be a great individual to add to the MU family as we continue to grow towards success on and off the field."

Gomez joins Ben Larson, a midfielder from Missoula, Mont., as newcomers to the Lions' program, which will be entering its fifth season of intercollegiate competition.  Multnomah, a non-denominational evangelical Christian college with its main campus in Portland and a branch campus in Reno, Nev., competes in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.  The Lions are currently in their third year as members of the Cascade Collegiate Conference.
