ROCKLIN, Calif. – Southern Oregon's bats awoke in time to get one win out of Saturday's doubleheader at William Jessup (Calif.), where the No. 3 Raiders rebounded with an 11-0, five-inning win after dropping a 7-1 opener.

The Game 2 victory made the Raiders 13-5 overall going into their first four-game series in Cascade Conference play against College of Idaho next Friday and Saturday in Ashland. To pick up the split against the Warriors (13-8), they scored five in the second and five more in the third to back Gabby Sandoval's two-hitter in the circle.

Freshman left fielder Avery Morehead-Hutsell went 2-for-3 with four RBI and a run scored in the win, including a two-run single in the third. Senior shortstop Kelsey Randall went 2-for-3 with a walk, stole two bases, scored twice and lifted a two-run double in the second. Harlee Donovan reached base four times with a double and two walks, Taelor Mayben was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, and Haley Mt. Joy had a hit and two runs.

In total, SOU poked 12 hits in Game 2 and eight of its runs were earned.

Sandoval improved to 7-2 in winning her sixth consecutive decision. She struck out four and issued two walks, and has now allowed two earned runs in 25 innings over her last seven appearances.

The Game 1 loss went to Karlee Coughlin (3-2), who was tagged for nine hits and five runs in 4 1/3 innings. After Hannah Wessel's single scored Hannah Shimek for the game's first run in the top of the fourth, the Warriors came back with five in the fifth on two home runs – Shelbi Graifman's three-run shot and a two-run blast for Jena Ovens two batters later.

Graifman, who added an RBI single in the seventh, pitched a complete-game five-hitter with eight strikeouts and one walk. Morehead-Hutsell accounted for two of those hits, including a double.
