Lady Yotes Win Fourth-Straight, Cruise Past Northwest
CALDWELL, Idaho –
Madison Holly scored 14 of her game-high 20 points after halftime, as the College of Idaho avenged a 21-point road loss to Northwest University, running their win streak to four with a 72-58 victory inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
The Lady Yotes (8-14, 8-8 CCC) have won seven of their past nine – and can clinch their 19th-straight playoff berth with any combination of a victory and a Northwest loss. C of I sits alone in fifth-place in the CCC standings with just four games remaining in the regular-season.
NU (7-17, 4-11) made 10 of their first 17 field goal attempts on the night, taking a 23-19 lead early in the second quarter. C of I answered with a 12-2 run, as
Keahi Roy drained a 3-pointer and a lay-up,
Alyssa Case scored off an Eagles turnover and
Jocelyn Cook-Cox converted a 3-point play to give the Lady Yotes a lead they would not surrender.
Holly took over from there, making 3-of-4 3-pointers in the third quarter – as the lead swelled to 51-38 – reaching 62-44 early in the fourth quarter on a Case trey, as C of I connected on 12 triples on the night.
Roy scored 13 points with a team-high seven assists; Case scored 12 points with eight rebounds and five assists; with post
Lindy Westendorf recording her first career double-double, scoring 12 points with 13 rebounds, adding three blocks and three steals. The Yotes made a season-best 52-percent of their field goals and held a 36-26 rebound margin.
Miranda Langenhorst led the short-handed Eagles with 14 points, with Kalee Fowler scoring 12.
C of I hits the road next weekend, traveling to Portland for games at Multnomah and Warner Pacific.
