Raiders Dominate Wolves

College Place, Wash. – The Raiders dominated the Wolves 83-28 with a stellar defensive performance.
The Raiders owned the first quarter, led by Remi Mejia with 6 points off two three-pointers. Sarah Halversen had a jumper for Walla Walla with six and a half minutes left in the quarter, the only points the Wolves would have in the first quarter. Mejia had a three-pointer with six minutes left, putting Southern Oregon ahead 10-2. The Raiders continued to push the lead, finishing the quarter with a jumper by Bryanna Raff followed by a three-pointer by Sophia Altemus with 45 seconds left. The Wolves went into the second quarter down 25-2.
Carolina Montes had the first score of the second quarter with a layup, in an attempt to get things going for Walla Walla. With eight minutes left Toria Bradford for the Raiders made a three-pointer to push the lead to thirty points. The Wolves went into the second half down 49-15.
Southern Oregon started the third quarter with intensity, scoring back to back layups from Casey Williams and Ariel Augustine. The Wolves had their first points of the quarter in the last minute of the game off two free throws from Michaela Garcia and a jumper from Morgan Stanyer. The Raiders had a fifty-three point lead going into the fourth quarter, 72-21.
With eight minutes left in the fourth quarter, Carolina Montes had a jumper for Walla Walla, to bring their total to 24 points. The Raiders continued to stymie the Wolves on offense, forcing them to take tough shots that didn't go down. Southern Oregon cruised through the fourth quarter on the way to a 83-28 victory.
Leaders for Southern Oregon were Remi Mejia with 12 points and 3 rebounds, and Daranda Hinkey, Delaney Sparling, and Ariel Augustine with 9 points each. Walla Walla was led by Carolina Montes with 10 points and 3 rebounds.
