#10 OAKS DEFEAT SIMPSON 47-3 ON SENIOR NIGHT

ATHERTON, Calif. – #10 Menlo College Men's Wrestling picked up its second consecutive home dual win on Friday evening inside Haynes-Prim Pavilion with a lopsided 47-3 win over the Simpson University Red Hawks. The Oaks faced a depleted Simpson roster which forfeited the first three matches of the evening and the remainder of the lineup took care of business in the winning effort. Menlo is now a perfect 9-0 lifetime in duals against the Redhawks. The Oaks are now 6-3 on the season in dual matches with one remaining next Thursday against San Francisco State.

Simpson University began the day in an 18-0 deficit after forfeiting at 125, 133 and 141. Logan EatonElias Hernandez and Evin Everk were the recipients of those forfeit victories. The actual wrestling began at 149 pounds when #16 Terrill Sidner faced Joseph Alexander. Sidner jumped out to a big early lead but wasn't able to put Alexander away. However, he did pick up the bonus point with a 16-6 major decision victory.

The lone win of the evening for Simpson came at 157 pounds where Ben Gacayan edged Thomas Hamamjy 11-4 to get his team on the scoreboard, 22-3. That would be the final win of the evening for Simpson as they entered the heavier weights where the Oaks had a decided advantage. Simpson had a number of competitors wrestling up against a very talented Menlo squad and the results showed. Jordan Bernal won a 7-1 decision over Noah Marquez then things went very quickly. #2 Anthony Orozco pinned Layten Briggs in 2:26, Tyler Noon won by 18-0 technical fall in the first period. #18 Jovan Villalobos then won by 18-1 tech fall and #3 Javier Gonzalez capped things off with a pin in 2:30 over Sean Frens to seal the deal and give Menlo the 47-3 win.

Prior to the start of the match, Menlo honored its seven seniors in a ceremony. Those seniors include: Elias HernandezJake KamineJoseph JaureguiThomas HamamjyJavier GonzalezJovan Villalobos and Tyler Noon.
