Red Lion Players of the Week Announced

 The following CCC student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period March 12 - 18.

Hunter Boyd

Baseball – Pitcher of the Week
College of Idaho’s Hunter Boyd has been named the Red Lion Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

Boyd, a junior from Moses Lake, Wash., was dominant in the Yotes lone win of the week, shutting down Corban. Boyd helped in taking the shutout into the ninth inning, while recording his fifth outing of the season with six or more strikeouts.

Raymond Pedrina

Baseball – Player of the Week
Raymond Pedrina of Lewis-Clark State has been named the Red Lion Baseball Player of the Week.

Pedrina, a senior centerfield from Kapolei, Hawaii, led LCSC to a winning sweep for the week with his efforts at bat. Pedrina ended the week with a batting average of 0.692. Out of the 13 at bats, he hit over half at nine.

Brett Blackstock

Men’s Outdoor - Field
Multnomah’s Brett Blackstock has been named the Red Lion Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.

Blackstock, a junior from Kuna, Idaho, broke his own Multnomah high jump record, which he had set the week before with a mark of 1.89m, finishing third in the Rich Allen Classic in Newberg, Ore. His mark currently ranks 2nd in the CCC. Blackstock, an honorable mention All-Conference basketball player for the Lions, is participating in track for the first time since his freshman year in high school.

Matthew Kirkendall

Men’s Outdoor - Track
Matthew Kirkendall of Eastern Oregon has been named the Red Lion Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Kirkendall, a senior from Menifee, Calif., came within .01 seconds of the EOU program record in the 110m hurdles, winning the race by three quarters of a second. His time of 14.55 seconds also automatically qualified him for nationals in the first meet of the season and is ranked 6th in the NAIA so far this year.

Sabrina Boyd

Softball – Pitcher of the Week
Sabrina Boyd of Corban has been named the Red Lion Softball Pitcher of the Week.

Boyd, a senior from Pleasant Hill, Ore., tossed a no-hitter for the Warriors on Thursday, striking out seven Beacon batters en route to almost recording a perfect game. She followed that up with another complete-game shutout in the next game of the series, allowing just four hits while striking out two. For Boyd, she has now thrown four-straight completegame shutouts, lowering her ERA on the year to a team-best of 1.64.

Kelsey Randall

Softball – Player of the Week
Kelsey Randall of Southern Oregon has been named the Red Lion Softball Player of the Week.

Randall, a senior from Concord, Calif., went 7-for-10 and reached base 11 times in a series sweep of Northwest, hit her first over-the-fence home run since her freshman season and became the first player in team history to score 200 runs. Leads the NAIA in runs (38) in stolen bases (35) after swiping four more.

Bailey Dell

Women’s Outdoor - Field
Northwest Christian’s Bailey Dell has been named the Red Lion Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.

Dell, a senior from La Salle, Ontario, improved her ‘A’ standard and posted the best mark in the CCC and NAIA this season with 45.74m in Javelin. Dell finished third behind two DI throwers.

Jessa Perkinson

Women’s Outdoor - Track
Southern Oregon’s Jessa Perkinson has been named the Red Lion Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Perkinson, a senior from Roseburg, Ore., recorded an NAIA ‘A’ mark in the 1,500 and has the top spot on the national list by a margin of 12 seconds. She missed breaking her own school record by fewer than two seconds.
